Posture Supports Productivity: Here Are 5+5 Tips to Help

I took some time off during the recent holidays, and being away from the office for a bit made me more aware of habits I have sitting and standing at my desk (yes, I’m one of them. I love my Varidesk.). It also reminded me of this article from over a year ago talking about how sitting is the new smoking—and it still shocks me.

So I thought it would be a good time of year for all of us to take a sec, sit up straight and remind ourselves of how important posture at work is to our health, productivity and overall well-being. I even have a quick photo reference for you to print and drop in your desk drawer for random reminders—see below. There’s the physical part of slouching that hurts your neck and back—and then there’s the mental part too. If you’re hunched over you feel unenthusiastic, you’re not excited about what you’re doing and will easily get distracted or even develop sloppy work. Stop the madness!

Stand up and take notice of your posture now. And do it multiple times throughout the day. Remind yourself. Remind your coworkers. Use these 5+5 simple tips and let the productivity flow.
